About Community Health Data and the Community Health Survey

The impact of reliable, local data

Local community health data helps communities celebrate their successes and address their challenges. Here are some examples of why data is important to Larimer County:

Local health departments, hospitals, and other health service organizations use data to determine their health service priorities.

Funding agencies are increasingly interested in data when determining how to grant funds.

Community organizations can assess community needs and secure funding to meet those needs.

Local data allows us to monitor and evaluate progress from programs and policies.

Disproportionately affected groups can be identified so programs can ensure everyone benefits.

The Community Health Survey is one part of a Community Health Assessment (CHA). This includes the Community Health Survey and Community Discussion Groups. We use this information to plan our programs and services. We also share the data with other organizations working to improve the health of local residents.

Beginning in 1995, the Health District has collected information every three years about the healthcare needs of our community through the Community Health Survey. The survey asks about access to care, physical health, mental health, and other health-related topics.

The Health District Research & Evaluation team is committed to adhering to the American Association for Public Opinion Research Code of Professional Ethics and Practices in our survey research.
